Millican Farms is a “locally grown” farm well known in the Brazos Valley for our exceptional greenhouse tomatoes from November thhrough July. We’re in the process of dramatically expanding to meet the growing demand in the Brazos Valley for local, healthy, nutritious, flavorful vegetables sustainably produced.
Along with this increased production, Millican Farms is starting a CSA. CSA members pay in advance for a share of the upcoming harvest and share a whole growing season with the farm. The farm provides a weekly share of the farm’s harvest delivered at its peak ripeness. Members also get weekly farm updates, stories, recipes and crop information. The farm benefits by having a consistent market, which will allow us to focus on caring for the crops instead of trying to find a market to sell our produce.
Our locally grown tomatoes have been sold through local grocery stores and the Brazos Valley Farmers’ market since 2004. We are now ready to expand our offering to include a variety of greenhouse and seasonal vegetables. Our idea is to use our greenhouse facilities to produce a consistent supply of “staple” vegetables, including:
- Tomatoes
- Lettuce
- Cucumbers
- Bell peppers
Our CSA members will receive ‘a locally grown salad every week,’ even in the middle of winter. We will also be offering off-season melon, watermelon, eggplant, squash and herbs grown in the greenhouse. These greenhouse crops will be complemented with field grown seasonal vegetables that will add variety to their weekly delivery.
Our CSA is currently full, but we’re increasing our membership this fall. If you’re interested in finding out more information or joining, there’s more information and a registration form on this website.
